SteelBlue FAQs

How do I know what size door to order?

Roll-up doors are ordered by the opening size, such as 8’ wide and 8’ high. Therefore, you will first need to gather the width and height measurements of the unit opening. Then, it is also recommended to get the measurements for the side room and head room space where the roll-up door will be installed to ensure there will be enough clearance room.

Are your products wind resistant?

Roll-up doors from SteelBlue are tested to meet certain criteria for wind ratings. Contact the manufacture for complete details.

Do you offer commercial roll-up doors?

SteelBlue is currently in the process of developing a light-duty commercial sheet door. You can sign up for our newsletter here to receive updates on this product launch.

What maintenance is required for my roll-up door?

To prolong the life of the roll-up door, it is suggested to perform the following once or twice a year:

  • Make sure the guide strips are firmly attached to the door guides.
  • Wipe the door down with a microfiber cloth, and if needed, use mild soap and water
  • Check and lubricate the springs
  • Adjust the tension as necessary
My job site is not ready to install the doors. Where should I store the roll-up doors?

If the job site is not ready to install the roll-up doors, it is essential to store them in a clean, dry, covered space. Doing so will help maintain the integrity of the metal curtain and door hardware.

What tools do I need to install a 9530 Series roll-up door?

To install a 9530 Series roll-up door safely and efficiently, you must ensure you have a screw gun or drill, tape measure, utility knife or cutting pliers, 7/16” hex head nut driver or ratchet, 3/8” hex head driver, safety glasses, and safety gloves.

How do you install a 7530 Series roll-up door?

Please reference the installation manual or watch this step-by-step installation video for more details.

How do you add or release tension to the roll-up door?

To adjust the tension of the door, you will begin by inserting a ½ drive ratchet at the end of the tensioner. Next, you will need to back out the safety bolt far enough that it isn’t through the side of the plate. To add tension to the door, simply turn the ratchet in the clockwise direction one click at a time. To remove tension from the door, apply slight pressure clockwise on the ratchet, then pull and hold down the safety bolt and slowly and carefully let the ratchet rotate counterclockwise one click, then release the safety bolt and make sure the pawl and tensioner are engaged. Lastly, you will want to screw the safety bolt back in so it goes through the hood end plate. Once you have added or removed tension from the door as needed, recheck the balance of the door and repeat these steps until you achieve the desired operation of the door. In addition to these steps, you can reference the installation manual or this installation video.
