SteelBlue's Open Door: 2023 Fourth Quarter Review

I want to start this review by saying Happy New Year, and I hope you had a safe and enjoyable holiday with loved ones and family. Last week, our team conducted our 2024 kick-off meetings with a solid focus on our products and services along with a commitment to exceptional execution of our operations. I will dive into each of these categories deeper to give you more insight into our business and what you can expect from us this year. 

Product Solutions

Last October, we launched our new 9530 Series roll-up door, which features the industry standard panel profile, an easy-to-use tension device, and simplified installation with its innovative bracket system. I encourage you to read SteelBlue’s 9530 Series: A New Era of Self-Storage Solutions to learn more about the evolution of this new product. We are excited to share that we will also be launching a larger Boat/RV product (doors up to 14’x14’), along with a wind-rated storage door solution later this year to add to our growing list of product offerings. The 9530 Series Door, along with these additional product offerings are truly game changers for our company, and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed hearing firsthand from our customers how much they like our products and services and are happy to have an alternative option in the marketplace.  Thank you for your continued support and interest in SteelBlue.  With the launch and development of these new products, we continue to experience growth in our business. As such, we will be adding additional equipment to our manufacturing plant in Q1. This equipment will provide the needed capacity to stay aligned with our growing demand. The growth has also made it necessary for us to keep focused on our inventory requirements to ensure we continue to deliver on our commitments to you.  I would like to recognize Steve Weltmer, Chief Supply Chain Officer, and his team of Jean Elliot, Bobby Harbuck, Evan Sakamaki for their continued dedication in working with our vendor partners to ensure we continue supplying the needed inventory at the right levels to build our products and services for our customers. 

Services

As a continued factor of our growth, we are emphasizing collaboration cross-functionally to increase efficiencies, bring new ideas and continued improvements to our business, and address any problems that may arise and implement solutions faster. This also means we are focusing deeper on defining our processes and procedures to guarantee you always receive the best experience from our team. 

Our sales team recently welcomed Craig Nehlsen as the Western Regional Sales Manager and moved Craig Eisenbrandt to the central territory. We are excited to have him on our team and add to our depth of industry knowledge. Execution

Over the past 2 years we have embarked on an incredible journey that has built a successful and growing company. We have spent countless hours building and developing products, dedicating our efforts to exceptional project management, and customer services that we truly believe will redefine the storage building experience. However, with that building came challenges and opportunities that while we worked through together, drove us to increased dedication and refocus on our execution over the past several months. We are excited about our current position in the market, the product enhancements we have implemented, and the overwhelming support we have received from our vendors and customers. In 2024, we are committed to executing at the levels of excellence we expect from ourselves in driving SteelBlue to extraordinary customer experiences and ideas we founded this company on. We are dedicated to becoming your first choice and partner when choosing a door and hallway supplier.  We are excited about our future and remain dedicated to your next project’s success.

Rich Saginaw
Chief Executive Officer and President

Rich Saginaw is the Chief Executive Officer and President of SteelBlue. Rich is the former President of DBCI and has a proven track record of leading large organizations in achieving maximized shareholder value, institutionalizing cultural change, and sustainable strategic growth in leading his team and customers to new levels of excellence.

Rich’s career started in the banking industry, leading to an extensive career as an operations consultant assisting large and small organizations in achieving enterprise improvements. Later he held various executive operations positions leading multi-site manufacturing facilities in the steel industry for over 20+ years.

Rich played collegiate baseball and attended Washington and Jefferson College, where he earned his BA in Business and Political Science. Rich is an avid hockey fan, golfer and enjoys traveling with his family. He is a resident of Pittsburgh, where he lives with his wife and two children.
