How Long Does it Take to Execute a Quote for a Roll-Up Door: Part I

Purchasing a roll-up door is an important decision for many businesses, and receiving a timely, accurate quote plays a crucial role in the process. As a business owner, project manager, or contractor, it's essential to understand the factors that contribute to the duration of the quoting process for roll-up doors.

In this article, we'll delve into the steps involved in generating a quote at SteelBlue, the information we require from you, and the typical time frames you can expect when receiving a quote for your roll-up door project. This is part one of a two part series on our quoting process so stay on the lookout for part two coming soon!

The Quote Process

At SteelBlue, the quote process begins when our sales team receives a request from you or your company. The project details are reviewed, and a Request for Quote form is completed before being submitted to our estimating department.

Upon receiving the project, our estimators log the information into our Quote Log for tracking purposes and download the necessary files to prepare for the takeoff. Using our takeoff software, estimators count the items needed to build the system and create an accurate quote.

Once the takeoff is complete, the estimator prices up the items necessary to build the systems based on their takeoff while creating the quote. Upon completion of the quote, the estimator submits it to the sales team for review and presentation to you.

In order to provide better service to you, we have aligned our estimators with our sales team. This close collaboration ensures familiarity with your expectations and consistency in our quotes, resulting in a smoother quoting experience.

What We Need from You

To generate an accurate quote, we require specific information from you, including:

  • Project location
  • System heights
  • Door sizes
  • Components of the system
  • Estimated shipping date

Lead Time Considerations

Several factors can affect our lead time, such as having accurate information from you and our current backlog. Typically, we experience a higher volume of quote requests after trade shows.

Our sales team reviews lead times with you on a weekly basis and communicates any changes as soon as possible. If there is a change in lead time, we will notify you immediately to keep you informed and up-to-date.

The Bottom Line

At SteelBlue, we strive to offer a smooth and efficient quoting process for our roll-up doors. With a target lead time of two weeks, we prioritize transparency and communication with you to ensure your needs are met. Stay up to date with us and sign up for our newsletter! Thank you for your continued support.
