Can you tell us a bit about yourself? Where you grew up, interests, other bits about your life.

I started SteelBlue in May of 2022; my title is Director of Project Services. The Estimators, Detailers, Project Coordinators, Project Manager and Field Services all report to me. My team covers all aspects of the project between Sales and Manufacturing.

What role do you have at SteelBlue? When did you start? What is your day to day like?

My day-to-day activity can go from explaining how parts and pieces go together, to helping prioritize the production schedule, to engaging with a field condition issue to help resolve a problem, to explaining how something gets done in the ERP. There’s never a dull moment and the day goes very quickly.

What is one thing that people would be surprised to know about your job?

When I started, we were printing the quotes and building parts based on that printed quote. I create all orders to help track every item that is needed to be produced knowing that JP was building the ERP and having worked with him in the past I knew what he would be needing in the ERP along with what was needed by manufacturing to produce and ship orders. That led me into working with JP to implement the ERP throughout the business. We all joke that I speak JP because I can typically translate what he’s building and know what he and the program are capable of.

SteelBlue has several core values: Safety, Collaboration, Transparency, Inclusion, and Evolution. Can you tell us which one resonates with you the most and why?

Collaboration is dear to me. I always engage team members when making decisions. I want them to have the feeling of ownership of the decision and to understand how that decision affects others throughout the business

What is the company culture like for you at SteelBlue?

The SteelBlue culture feels like family. We all enjoy working with each other and we all have fun even with all the stress of the day.

Can you tell us about a moment of pride that you felt while working for the company?

I take pride in every day. From being able to help the customer to get what they want and when they want it and for the profitability of SteelBlue to showing a teammate how to solve a problem, every day is rewarding.

If you could swap roles with anyone at SteelBlue for a day, who would it be and why?

I’d have to say that there really isn’t anyone that I’d like to switch positions with. The team that I manage is right in my wheelhouse and I have experience throughout my career with each position.

Which work benefit or perk is your favorite and why?

Flexibility: we all know what has to get done and when, but having the flexibility of working outside the office at times is a nice benefit. We’re all adults and being treated that way with flexibility goes far with all employees.

What are some fun facts about you that people should know about?
  • I have a mini farm with 44 animals.  Dogs, cats, rabbits, chickens, ducks, goats, birds, and a gecko. We are looking at adding miniature donkeys and turkeys this year.
  • My wife and I volunteer at Tamarack Wildlife Rescue where we capture, and transport injured wildlife along with raising orphaned wildlife until they are ready to be released back to nature.  Having nearly 25 wooded acres and located across the road from a State Game Lands many of the recovered or matured wildlife get released on our property where we can keep watch on them to ensure they are thriving.  We’ve also begun the training to be able to handle raptors like hawks, owls and falcons to expand what we are able to care for.
  • We also volunteer with Wildlife In Need where we cover all of western PA to capture and transport injured wildlife.
