Can you tell us a bit about yourself? Where you grew up, interests, other bits about your life.

I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. I have been married to my lovely wife for 35 wonderful years and we have 1 son. I enjoy traveling and make as many trips as I can yearly to Rehoboth Beach, DE and, travel time permitting, to Italy.

What role do you have at SteelBlue? When did you start? What is your day to day like?

I am the Senior Accountant here at SteelBlue. I started in August, 2023. My typical day encompasses running reports for various departments and management that help paint the financial picture of our organization. I am responsible for a chunk of the month-end close process along with my teammates in the accounting department. I also work with management on some of the various audits that come up and handle the sales tax filings in the states we do business in.

What is one thing that people would be surprised to know about your job?

This job entails a lot more than just being a “bean counter.” I wear many hats daily to complete my tasks. They include being an investigator, analyst, negotiator, coach and trouble shooter, just to name a few.

SteelBlue has several core values: Safety, Collaboration, Transparency, Inclusion, and Evolution. Can you tell us which one resonates with you the most and why?

My top value would be collaboration. In order to gather the information needed, I work with virtually every department in the organization in some capacity. The teamwork I have encountered has been awesome. Everyone is willing to help and provide what is needed for the good of the organization.

What is the company culture like for you at SteelBlue?

We are a family plain and simple. We operate as a family. We succeed as a family and we deal with the issues as a family.

Can you tell us about a moment of pride that you felt while working for the company?

In addition to taking pride in doing my job,  I also enjoy hearing of various accomplishments achieved within the organization, be it on the manufacturing floor, hitting various financial goals that make us profitable and the closing of a large project.

If you could swap roles with anyone at SteelBlue for a day, who would it be and why?

While I don’t want to swap roles with anyone, I would like to learn more about several various positions and how their jobs affect the numbers I see come across my screen every day.

Which work benefit or perk is your favorite and why?

For me, it is being treated as an adult. In my career I have worked in organizations that micro-managed, supervisors that told you to do it their way only. The culture here is that we have the flexibility to structure our day as needed. I have been told many times that the work-life balance is vital, which is very much appreciated.

What are some fun facts about you that people should know about?
